- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Proven track record designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems or APIs using Java, C/C++.

Within User Protection, the Egregious Harms Protections team is responsible for protecting Google from being used in the most severe harms through end-to-end abuse intervention strategies that keep users safe on and off-platform.
Responsibilities
- Define service and technical roadmaps for the Egregious Abuse Protection domain. Set the direction for building centralized systems that detect egregious material and identify bad actors across Google’s ecosystem.
- Lead the design and review of high-scale distributed infrastructure. Oversee the development of critical components for ingesting signals (Third-party APIs, NGOs, user reports) and building high-fidelity repositories for content identification.
- Drive accountability for code quality, testing, and system operability. Establish and maintain Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and domain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure the reliability of safety-critical systems.
- Own the end-to-end execution of large-scale projects, ensuring the team delivers heuristics, machine learning integrations, and data analysis tools to combat real-world harms (CSAM, Child Endangerment, and non-consensual imagery).
