Manager, Responsible AI Strategic Programs

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in program management, including managing cross-functional programs and developing program strategy.
  • 7 years of experience in a leadership role, collaborating cross-functionally and managing without authority, including with operations, compliance, engineering, and executive leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working on responsible AI.
  • Experience working with or on Trust and Safety teams.
  • Experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to synthesize information into action-oriented insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

A Responsible AI pillar within Trust and Safety focuses on driving One Google solutions for industry-leading responsible AI (RAI) models and applications. It is a global team with Responsible AI domain expertise and backgrounds in operations, strategy, ethics, risk management, and program management.

Within this pillar, the Trust and Safety Responsible AI Strategic Programs team lands strategic RAI programs with higher quality or velocity than there otherwise would be, working with stakeholders to deliver impact.

As a Program Manager, you will be an expert in understanding complex problems to shape strategies to solve them, navigating organizational dynamics to negotiate trade-offs and connect dependencies, using judgement to anticipate and address key risks to program delivery; and synthesizing large amounts of information into clear 'so what' insights.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $236000 - $330000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Deliver business impact, set, communicate, and achieve team priorities that support organizational goals. Align with partners, making key decisions to achieve objectives. Connect dots across RAI governance, RAI operations, and testing work.
  • Set clear expectations for each Googler aligned to role, level, and organizational goals. Regularly provide feedback and coaching to help Googlers deliver results. Recognize achievements and hold team members accountable when expectations are not met.
  • Define, lead, and own complex program charters that address scope, timeline, OKRs, resourcing and risks/dependencies.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across Google; align stakeholders on decisions and changing circumstances.
  • Collaborate with partners, identifying and executing on initiatives to achieve milestones and outcomes on time; use judgement to proactively anticipate and overcome risks to program timelines or quality; as needed, develop change management roll-out plans.
