  • 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience leveraging AI-driven workflows or ML models to optimize software tooling or processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record of improving engineering quality, reducing operational toil, and scaling infrastructure.
  • Domain experience in networking, virtualization, or resource orchestration.

As a Staff Software Engineer in the Google Global Networking (GGN) Engineering Productivity team, you will lead the technical architecture for Google's networking hardware lab infrastructure. Managing over $120M in Devices Under Test (DUTs), the team builds scalable frameworks for Emulation, System Under Test (SUT), multi-tenant resource orchestration, and traffic generation.

You will apply end-to-end software product lifecycle experience to deliver Testbed as a Product, optimizing CapEx via timeseries forecasting and enabling a two-day NPI qualification goal. Acting as the technical anchor for the team, you will resolve ambiguous technical challenges, guide system design, and accelerate the velocity of Google's global network.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and scale software platforms for networking infrastructure management, prioritizing reliability, performance, and observability.
  • Break down ambiguous technical problems into solvable tasks and guide systems design for the engineering team.
  • Own the end-to-end software product lifecycle for infrastructure initiatives, reducing operational toil and driving CapEx optimization.
  • Mentor engineers on software architecture, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and scalable product development.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
