Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in manufacturing or process development in semiconductor packaging and SMT.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated record of delivering robust innovative manufacturing solutions, leading failure analysis investigations and resolutions, and overseeing yield improvements for high complexity products.
  • Deep technical expertise in SMT manufacturing processes and advanced process development via design of experiments, and knowledge in advanced IC packaging qualifications, metallurgy, and mechanical thermal dynamics.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and engaging landscape in manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, and ability to collaborate with multi-geo teams on complex projects spanning multiple technologies.

As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in Advanced Operation Engineering, you will join the team responsible for new and innovative manufacturing technology and processes enabling New Product Introduction (NPI). You will identify Design for Manufacturability (DFM) opportunities, and support delivery of the highest caliber products and fulfillment chains.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design engineering on NPI roadmaps. Develop strategy and plans to enable new products via advanced manufacturing technology and process development.
  • Lead experimental validation for novel technologies, materials, and processes, by developing and executing formal Designs of Experiments (DoE) to systematically identify and establish scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the research, development, and characterization of solder alloys to meet SMT and thermal requirements. Innovate manufacturing processes solutions and capabilities including industry first process definition, startup, and qualification.
  • Coordinate with supply chain managers to identify and build up robust new manufacturing supply chains. Conduct process audits at potential suppliers and manufacturing partners where necessary.
  • Lead efforts to align manufacturing partners process capabilities with Google products roadmap. Contribute to the team's New Technology Introduction (NTI) strategy.
