Senior Product Design Engineer, Pixel Accessories

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • 5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of work experience in consumer product design.
  • Experience shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or senior engineer role.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers around the world on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
  • Expertise in soft goods (textiles, leathers, elastomers), plastics, and metal design.
  • Proficient in structural FEA, thermal analysis, and electronics integration, including bio-compatibility and reliability.
  • Deep technical knowledge in multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products.

About the job

As a Product Design Engineer, you’ll design the next generation of Pixel wearable accessories. You will drive the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts while working in a manufacturing and product-oriented development environment. You demonstrate creative problem-solving and design skills, clear communication, and a solid base of engineering fundamentals. Your strong organizational skills help you manage your varied responsibilities across the product. You will work on a Product Design team that balances comfort, performance, and appearance in an innovative and harmonious design that complements and enables the technology. You’ll collaborate with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams such as Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Industrial Design, Reliability, Operations, Camera, and Product to define and deliver excellent products.

The Accessory Team’s Mission is to offer watch and tracker accessories to fit anyone’s style and needs at affordable prices with a focus on beauty, quality and simplicity that allow for customization, increase value proposition for devices and elevate the brand. We work collaboratively, have fun and celebrate often. This role will focus on internally-designed accessories. You will work closely with the team’s PDEs and cross-functional ID designers, as well as overseas suppliers and vendors. We are a functional and experienced team who works on various materials/designs and collaborates with many, allowing you broad scope and decision making responsibility and exposure to multiple functions across the company.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $159000 - $230000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (ID, PM, PgM, and manufacturing) to conceptualize and build new products.
  • Oversee 2D/3D drawings, define tolerances, and manage organized Bills of Materials.
  • Collaborate with device teams and external suppliers on assembly specs, system-wide design, and part manufacturing.
  • Lead root cause analysis to resolve design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Balance project requirements, including functionality, sustainability, human factors, and aesthetics, while maintaining thorough documentation.
