About the job
Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.
In this role, you will act as a financial architect of the global portfolio, responsible for the oversight and assistance of the contractual needs for all aspects of building Google's Cable Landing Stations globally. You will take a leadership role in working with peers, managers, internal stakeholders, and executives of Google and general contractor partners to build a delivery ecosystem.
Your key priorities are ensuring that our delivery teams’ contractual needs are fulfilled, negotiation of agreements to protect Google's rights while ensuring consistency in contracting and agreement performance, oversight of contract administration across all projects, and interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. The role requires a deep knowledge of construction agreements, including design-build, design-assist, design-bid-build, and others, as well as demonstrated commercial acumen to understand how construction agreements assist and structure.
Responsibilities
- Lead General Contractor (GC) pre-qualification and selection, managing the end-to-end procurement process from RFP to contract execution, ensuring market-specific commercial terms adhere to Google’s risk appetite.
- Develop high-fidelity parametric budget forecasts and implement controls to manage cash flow and prevent capital leakage across the development pipeline.
- Craft integrated management schedules that synchronize site due diligence, design milestones, and equipment lead times to proactively manage dependencies.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of Owner-Furnished Equipment (OFE) from strategic sourcing to on-site delivery, insulating the program from supply chain volatility.
- Oversee on-site contract administration support staff and support key contractual requirements for delivery teams, including scope amendments, change orders, and dispute resolution.
