Senior Consultant, Web Application Pen Testing

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in offensive security, specifically focused on manual web application pen testing and API testing.
  • Experience with operating system security across Linux, Windows, and macOS.
  • Experience delivering reports to both technical and executive audiences (e.g., explaining exploit chains or technical risks).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Offensive Security Web Expert (OSWE), GIAC Web Application Pen Tester (GWAPT), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP), eLearnSecurity Web application Pen Tester eXtreme (eWPTX), or CCT APP.
  • Experience assessing cloud security environments, including GCP.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Go for custom tool creation and exploit development.
  • Understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and advanced exploitation techniques for modern JavaScript/SPA frameworks, GraphQL, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Understanding of network protocols, system administration, and technical incident response processes.
  • Proven track record of manually discovering and exploiting critical vulnerabilities.

About the job

The mission of the team is to scope, plan, and execute highly sophisticated, offensive security assessments for Google Cloud and Mandiant customers. This is not a checkbox compliance or automated scanning role; we are looking for a true web application hacking specialist who is passionate about digging deep, finding zero-days, and thoroughly breaking complex web applications.

Our mission is to bypass modern defenses, find high-severity logical flaws, chain vulnerabilities to achieve full application compromise, and conduct novel web application hacking research. The primary focus of this role is advanced web application and API exploitation either to facilitate an initial access vector during red team operations or in standalone web application penetration tests. Occasionally these responsibilities also include infrastructure assessments and other bespoke projects.Part of Google Cloud, Mandiant is a recognized leader in dynamic cyber defense, threat intelligence and incident response services. Denmark: kr.960000 - kr.980000 (DKK) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
Spain: €88000 - €90000 (EUR) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
Netherlands: €114000 - €116000 (EUR) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the external phases of larger Red Team assessments, leveraging web application compromise to establish initial footholds.
  • Conduct in-depth, manual pen testing of web applications, APIs, microservices, and mobile backends, focusing on complex business logic vulnerabilities and novel attack vectors. Conduct network and infrastructure pen testing as part of broader client assessments.
  • Dedicate time to security research, finding new exploitation techniques, discovering 0-days, developing custom tools, and contributing back to the security community.
  • Author comprehensive, accurate, and highly technical reports detailing precise exploitation steps, proof-of-concepts, and remediation advice for developers and C-level stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical lead on engagements, helping to scope projects, guide delivery, and mentor junior consultants in advanced application security testing techniques.
