Senior Software Engineer, Google Home Camera

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C or C++.
  • Experience with building software systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in embedded systems.
  • Experience in Machine Learning (ML) infrastructure, including deployment, evaluation, and tuning.
  • Experience in deploying ML on constrained hardware (e.g., System-on-a-Chip (SoCs), Digital Signal Processor (DSPs), Neural Processing Unit (NPUs)), balancing performance and power.
  • Experience in ODML, Generative AI (GenAI), computer vision, or audio.

In this role, you will architect and develop the camera stack and On-Device Machine Learning (ODML) framework for next-generation Artificial Intelligence (AI) home security products, taking end-to-end ownership of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from initial concept through product launch. You will be responsible for advancing computing technologies to ensure execution on consumer devices while promoting an quality-output team culture through technical coaching and mentorship.The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop the software stack and platform for camera products.
  • Manage the full development lifecycle, aligning roadmaps, monitoring risks, and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Lead architecture and implementation to ensure quality camera software solutions.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership, aligning team priorities with organizational goals and driving strategy and decision-making.
