About the job

The Server Platform is a comprehensive, opinionated ecosystem of tools and frameworks for building highly scalable, reliable, and compliant microservices and agents that enable Google’s products to operate at planet-scale. This ecosystem is designed to guide engineers towards Google's recommended best practices, while reducing the toil and cognitive load required to build sophisticated services.

As the Engineering Director for the Server Platform Team, you will oversee the critical transformation of Google's server ecosystem, moving our infrastructure from a human-centric developer platform to one optimized for AI agents, and changing the platform to accelerate the creation of AI-native product experiences. By redefining core frameworks, you will ensure our ecosystem supports the next generation of intelligent products and addresses the need for enhanced engineering speed, quality, and efficiency in the AI era.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of engineering at Google by defining how thousands of developers and AI agents build, deploy, and manage microservices that power billions of users.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
