Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in technical program management.
  • 5 years of experience managing a team of technical program managers.
  • Experience developing and implementing quantitative risk management frameworks to measure and mitigate operational risks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with third party, contracted services.
  • Experience in setting up (enterprise) risk management programs, risk modeling, operational resilience, and delivering risk management training.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

The Google Data Centers team (GDC) designs, builds and operates many gigawatts of reliable, efficient, flexible data centers around the world.

Google's Data Center Operations (DCOps) team acts as the stewards of the physical infrastructure that powers the world’s information. We operate the mechanical, electrical, and control systems that keep our servers running 24/7/365.

As the Portfolio Risk Management Lead, you will be responsible for building and managing the risk profile across all of Google’s Data Center operating data centers. Your team will oversee the performance programs that drive third party risk reduction and capture Google's first party risk profile across each data center operation.

Your team will oversee the operational aspects of site selection within our third party space, collaborating with partner teams on the evaluation and escalation of risks associated with new data center sites.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $240000 - $334000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Be a highly credible thought leader within Google and industry on the subject matter domain of the respective organization.
  • Drive measurable program performance gains correlated to execution velocity. Establish governance over prioritization decisions to ensure alignment with key performance indicators.
  • Be a change advocate responsible for initiating and leading multiple organizations through pivots needed to address shifts in business trends and priorities.
  • Lead strategic planning framework for a complex program portfolio including direct influence over resourcing decisions, planning cadence, and planning stakeholders.
  • Lead managers and be responsible for both the team’s performance and its well-being, its execution against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and the career development of its constituents, its unfailing use of existing systems, and its cooperative participation in defining future systems and processes.
