Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in C++ programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
- 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, etc.).
- Experience building large language models applications and agentic flows.
- Experience with user modeling, recommender systems and personalization.
- Knowledge of statistical methods and software development.
- Excellent mathematical skills.

- Design and iterate on agentic flows for user intent extraction, query generation, content retrieval and synthesis, and multi-modal generation. Conduct applied research on novel techniques for the above, and come up with proper solutions at production scale.
- Build quality intuitions by analyzing user behavior and product needs. Define the evaluation metrics and measurement approach. Iterate on quality via offline evals and live experiments to drive end user impact.
- Integrate the new content format with the Discover indexing and serving system; experiment with different retrieval, ranking and user targeting approaches to optimize user experience.
- Collaborate across teams and work with a cross-function group (Team Leads, Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Partner Teams) in Discover.
- Implement solutions in one or more specialized ML areas, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model optimization and data processing.
