Senior Software Engineer, Finance and Growth Platform, Payments

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go).
  • 3 years of experience with Generative AI (e.g., Large Language Models, Multi-Modal Models) and agentic technologies (e.g., Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent Development Kit (ADK), Agent-to-Agent (A2A), etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) or machine learning systems.
  • Experience developing Generative AI Agentic solutions, Large Language Model (LLM) integrations, or accessible technologies to improve data exploration and developer productivity.
  • Experience in low level systems programming languages (e.g., C++ or C).
  • Expertise in distributed systems design, specifically in architecting high-performance services that handle millions of requests per second.

The Consumer Payments Finance and Growth Platform team owns the infrastructure powering payments data processing, growth, engagement, and business generation across Google’s Consumer Payments global business. We provide reliable, high-performance, and scalable solutions for users to have rich financial search and insights, reach users via notifications, emails, in-surface communications, and offer rewards and incentives.Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable features and infrastructure for the Finance and Growth platform.
  • Work on all technical aspects of development, including technical requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration.
  • Contribute to the architectural evolution of the platform, balancing the needs for centralization vs decentralization.
  • Ensure the performance and reliability of critical services, maintaining high availability standards for global finance back-end infrastructures.
  • Participate in code reviews, share knowledge to foster a culture of technical excellence.
