Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product management.
  • 5 years of experience in people management, managing a team of product managers.
  • Domain experience in AI/ML (trajectories, evaluation, and context knowledge).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Product and software experience with advanced AI/LLMs (fine-tuning, agent harnesses, MCP/UCP protocols), AI safety, adversarial analysis, and proactive ethical risk mitigation.
  • Track record of translating nuanced user insights into intuitive AI experiences while delivering compelling technical presentations to executive leadership.
  • Expertise designing AI evaluation frameworks and metrics, translating model behaviors and performance insights into strategic, product enhancements in ambiguous environments.
  • Success building, mentoring, and leading product management teams, driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, legal, marketing, and go-to-market to deliver innovative multi-industry solutions.

DeepMind’s Applied AI team seeks a Director of Product Management to bridge cutting-edge research and real-world enterprise transformation. You will partner with industry leaders across media, entertainment, and creative sectors, alongside research engineers and cross-functional teams, to identify, scope, and deploy frontier AI solutions.

As a bridge between research and industry, our mission is two-fold: deploy breakthrough AI solutions that unlock tangible business value, and channel insights from messy real-world environments back into our development processes to shape future research trajectories.

You will construct technical solutions, conduct rigorous evaluations, manage complex engagements from discovery to delivery, and empower a talented team of product managers across multiple sectors. US: $352000 - $391000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery discussions with enterprise executives and technical teams, maintaining contemporary understanding of AI advances to intuitively identify, predict, and scope high-impact generative AI opportunities delivering business value.
  • Drive scoping and progress of engagements programmatically and technically, focusing on building rigorous model evaluations, identifying loss patterns, and transforming complex data to systematically test product hypotheses.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of Applied AI product managers to scale organizational impact across multiple cutting-edge AI models and global industry sectors.
  • Contribute to DeepMind-wide strategic initiatives, advancing product thinking and accuracy to complement research while proactively mapping emerging enterprise opportunities directly to evolving model capabilities.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration across DeepMind Research Engineers, client executives, go-to-market, partnership, and legal teams to establish firm foundations for all customer engagements and support ongoing frontier model development.
