As a part of the Google Global Network (GGN), the world’s largest network, defined by a unique architecture ensuring reliability, speed, and hardware efficiency, you will span the Edge, B2, and B4 backbones, makes infrastructure present massive-scale engineering issues requiring sophisticated, well-tested network management services and specialized device validation.

You will manage a network of this magnitude as high-stakes, minor regressions can impact global connectivity. As a part of the GGN Engineering Productivity team, you will be the backbone of this reliability, provide comprehensive tools and infrastructure empowering GGN Engineering to test network software and hardware effectively. You will partner with service owners to architect end-to-end testing strategies, from functional and integration testing to full-scale staging environments.

You will ensure the software managing Google's global traffic is scalable and validated against the highest standards of engineering excellence.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead core emulation projects, independently architecting and driving the implementation of GGN’s virtualization infrastructure using Kubernetes to accelerate testing cycles and reduce physical lab dependencies.
  • Deliver high-level technical leadership to emulation engineers by defining design and implementation strategies, conduct rigorous architectural reviews, and personally resolve the team's most complex technical bottlenecks.
  • Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge Google technologies and cloud-native patterns to modernize the GGN Engineering Productivi (EngProd) stack and maintain a competitive edge in infrastructure productivity.
  • Establish and institutionalize industry-best practices in automated testing, code health, and agile methodologies, elevating the engineering standards across the broader organization.
