Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and analytics frameworks.
  • Experience with testing, debugging, and deployment in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: analysis, databases, experimentation, networking, optimization, or storage systems.
  • Experience in software development and operating systems.

We are looking for a Software Engineer with a healthy knowledge or interest in large-scale data infrastructure and a keen curiosity to build expertise in our architectures to propose novel approaches for solving emerging challenges. You will pioneer next-generation designs by carrying out workload analysis, building prototypes, running experiments, and helping innovative ideas reach production alongside key technical leaders and stakeholders.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of Google’s Infrastructure Storage System and how its components perform optimally using defined metrics, insightful statistics, and explanatory models.
  • Characterize inefficient behaviors and irregular anomalies and identify the causes of such behaviors.
  • Propose deployment efficiency improvements to the design architecture, system monitoring, resource provisioning, and production operations policies.
  • Engage in research with leading academic institutions and industrial vendors and thus provide guidance to storage engineering functions.
