About the job

Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we get excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

As a Developer Relations Engineer on the Android and Google Play Games team, you will sit at the intersection of Google's gaming platforms and the world's leading mobile, PC, and console game studios. You will combine game engine and client-side systems engineering with developer advocacy to help studios build, optimize, and launch high-performance games across Android phones, tablets, foldables, and Google Play Games on PC.

In this role, you will dive into production game codebases, profile CPU/GPU and memory bottlenecks, build sample code and AI-powered developer tools, and collaborate directly with Android and Google Play Product and Engineering teams to shape the future of multiplatform gaming.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with EMEA game studios to provide technical consulting on performance, memory optimization, graphics APIs, and cross-platform architecture.
  • Guide developers on integrating Google Play Games Services, platform features, and input SDKs across mobile, tablets, foldables, and PC.
  • Develop, maintain, and scale production-ready sample code, engine plugins (Unity, Unreal), validation harnesses, and AI developer workflows to automate game porting, profiling, and QA.
  • Analyze partner game builds for performance, memory, and stability (ANR/crashes) using tools like Perfetto, Android Performance Analyzer, RenderDoc, and Android Studio Profiler.
  • Act as the technical voice for game developers, synthesizing feedback and identifying platform gaps to influence Android and Google Play product roadmaps.
