Senior Director, Product, Model Services and Consumer Verticals, DeepMind

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical
    field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of tech industry experience.
  • 12 years of experience in product management.
  • 5 years of experience in an executive leadership role focused on
    AI/Foundation models, cloud services, or technical enterprise software
    platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of LLMs, APIs, machine learning frameworks, and the lifecycle of fine-tuning models for vertical applications.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a mastery of translating complex technical breakthroughs into clear, actionable narratives for senior leadership, modeling counterparts, and team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to product decisions and model evaluation.
  • Proven track record of building and managing large product organizations within a highly matrixed, dispersed engineering ecosystem.

About the job

As the Senior Director of Product Management for Model Services & Consumer Verticals, you will provide overall product leadership for delivering DeepMind’s (GDM) models and services to internal customers like the Gemini app, YouTube, Search, Ads, Android, Shopping, etc. Your mission is to deliver services and improve our underlying models to power the next generation of consumer experiences across our products.

In this role, you will lead a senior team of 25+ PMs tasked with building the platforms, services, and model improvements that drive recommendations, personalization, and interactive user experiences across Google’s consumer ecosystem. You will manage a highly scaled product footprint, navigating a complex, highly dispersed engineering partner ecosystem to support different verticals including education, music, shopping, advertising, and consumer finance.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $420000 - $467000 (USD) + 40% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product roadmap for consumer product model services, prioritizing features, capabilities, and vertical capacities based on technical feasibility, market analysis, and Google use cases.
  • Define and convert the long-term product vision for model services and the vertical and strategy across Google's consumer ecosystem.
  • Define and track key product metrics, utilizing data-driven insights to evaluate model performance in real-world consumer interactions and user journeys to inform future research and model improvements.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships between the core GDM research team and internal model customers across major consumer apps to rapidly scale breakthrough model capabilities into production.
