Customer Engineer, Practice, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with cloud-native architecture in a customer-facing, consulting, or technical support role.
  • Experience in deployment planning, orchestration, or change management.
  • Experience in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go), debugging, or systems design.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience selling or promoting technical solutions in Application Modernization (App Mod), Infrastructure Modernization (Infra Mod), and cloud migrations.
  • Experience working with product and capacity teams to resolve complex technical blockers.
  • Experience in developing and deploying solutions in a fluid, digital-native or startup environment.
  • Direct experience designing and deploying solutions leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) models.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platforms and system architecture integrations.

As a Practice Customer Engineer (PCE) specializing in Application Modernization, you will serve as a deep domain specialist deployed to solve complex customer challenges for our Retail and Energy accounts. You will leverage your technical expertise to influence customer domain experts and feed real-world knowledge back into product development. You will engage in development and prototyping within your domain, proving the value of the Google Cloud portfolio and driving the technical win for advanced, cloud-native architectures.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical win for complex Application Modernization, Infrastructure Modernization, and AI workloads within the Retail and Energy sectors.
  • Lead development and prototyping to build functional, customer-tailored solutions that secure technical buy-in from customer domain experts (such as CTOs, CISOs, and Lead Architects).
  • Partner with Account teams, Platform CEs, and Outcome CEs to lead highly technical conversations regarding how to integrate advanced modern architectures into legacy ecosystems.
  • Advocate for and build with Google Cloud’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning portfolios, ensuring local teams have the technical depth to deliver AI solutions with less dependency on external specialist groups.
  • Serve as a liaison between complex customer deployments and Google Cloud's Practice GTM, Product Management, and Engineering organizations to resolve product blockers and shape future features.
