Application Engineer III, SAP

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working with ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming).
  • Experience in software development with a focus on SAP ERP or S/4HANA development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience implementing, customizing, or integrating third-party applications within Finance or Procurement domains, such as SAP Ariba, OpenText, BTP or other SaaS solutions.
  • Experience with data storage, data modeling, and developing data products using platforms like BigQuery.
  • Knowledge of the full system implementation lifecycle, including analysis, design, building, testing, and ongoing support.

About the job

You lead all aspects of web development, requirements gathering, software development, testing, documentation, training, implementation, ongoing support, and maintenance for both in-house and customer-facing web applications. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of Googlers using UI and functional specs/prototypes as input. You are empowered to act like an owner, take action and innovate to meet user and customer needs.

As an SAP Application Engineer in the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) space, you will lead the development and maintenance of both in-house and customer-facing applications that drive financial and operational efficiencies.

In this role, you will focus on the design and implementation of P2P and procurement systems, ensuring high standards of quality and security. You will work within the SAP ecosystem—including SAP ERP and S/4HANA—to create robust, scalable products that support the needs of Google's global operations and its extended workforce. You will be empowered to act like an owner, collaborating across functional teams to innovate and meet complex user and customer needs.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $138000 - $198000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy custom front-end and back-end services using modern ABAP and SAPUI5/Fiori to support P2P business processes.
  • Drive the overall systems design and create integration strategies between core SAP environments and first-party applications.
  • Collaborate with business owners, product managers, and analysts to translate functional requirements for procurement solutions into high-level technical specifications.
  • Design and implement API-based integrations and secure interfaces, including OData services and web services, to connect different software products.
  • Maintain the highest levels of development practices, including writing clean, modular, and self-sustaining code and managing the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC).
