Senior Visual Designer, YouTube on TVs

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of visual design experience in product design or UX/UI design.
  • Experience using figma to design, maintain, and component libraries and design systems.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience with motion design, interactive prototyping, and front-end web technologies (such as HTML and CSS).
  • Experience with AI-assisted design workflows, vibe coding, or connecting design systems to development environments (such as Model Context Protocol).
  • Experience designing and implementing user interfaces (UIs) for TV platforms or smart TV devices.

As a Senior Visual Designer, you will shape the visual future of YouTube on TVs–YouTube’s largest and fastest-growing screen, which has crossed over 1 billion monthly active users and 1 billion daily watch hours. You will craft the language of TV design systems, elevate aesthetics, and pioneer the intersection of design systems and AI-assisted prototyping. In this role, you will collaborate across disciplines to build beautiful, cohesive, and accessible user experiences that bring the best of YouTube to millions of living rooms worldwide.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $159000 - $231000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Craft, maintain, and evolve the Living Room design system component library, driving alignment with engineering and core foundations through robust documentation, strict variable consistency, and token adoption.
  • Lead the integration of AI-assisted workflows into our design pipeline to enable rapid, high-fidelity prototyping of next-generation visual styles and experimental TV interaction patterns.
  • Leverage principal contributors to explore concept development to influence product, a point-of-view around visual style, and product commitments.
  • Defend YouTube products, our brand promise, and its unique value prop amid an interlaced relationship with YouTube’s master brand.
  • Partner with visual programs within our organization to evolve and apply new design styles and aesthetics for our suite of products.
