Senior Product Manager, Technical Risk Management

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 3 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc).
  • 3 years of experience developing or launching products or technologies within privacy, data governance, security, or a related area.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technology or business related field.
  • 4 years of experience in a role preparing and delivering technical presentations to senior leadership.
  • 3 years of people management experience with direct reports, and in technical leadership.
  • Experience leading product efforts for platforms or infrastructure used by other engineering teams.
  • Deep familiarity with data science and industry best practices in data governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, break down complex problems, and drive clarity in a fast-paced environment.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $192000 - $279000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in privacy, data governance, and compliance, translating them into actionable product strategies and requirements.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, UX, Legal, Policy, Compliance, and other cross-functional teams to drive alignment and execution on product roadmaps. Communicate complex product strategies and technical details to various audiences, including senior executives (e.g., VPs), effectively gaining buy-in and driving consensus across organizational boundaries.
  • Serve as a domain expert and go-to person for critical decisions related to data quality and connectivity within your product area, influencing technical and policy direction.
  • Ensure Google products meet stringent internal and external data standards, potentially involving areas like data labeling, consent management, data lineage, access controls, and data deletion.
  • Drive measurable impact by defining and tracking key metrics related to privacy posture, compliance, developer velocity, and user trust.
