Software Engineer III, Infrastructure, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in back-end development using one of the Object Oriented Programming Languages (e.g., C++).
  • Experience in large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure as a service, and software architecture.
  • Experience with large-scale relational databases (e.g., SQL) and data storage design (e.g., schema, query optimization).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting custom replication systems, or caching layers.
  • Experience in back-end services focusing on security, Identity and Access Management (IAM), OAuth, or data privacy compliance.
  • Experience with system reliability practices, including on-call rotations, monitoring/alerting (e.g., Service Level Indicator/Service Level Objective (SLIs/SLOs)), and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AI product integration or leveraging AI tools to optimize software engineering workflows.

In this role, you will work on a core system of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) identity. You will work on multiple complex challenges, drive consensus, and build a strong foundation for GCP services. You will have experience on large-scale systems and infrastructure, with an understanding of distributed systems and database infrastructure (e.g., spanner). You will set and keep the technical bar high. You will be responsible for design and implementation of complex, scalable infrastructure components, systems, and features and test coverag. You will be able to identify edge cases, potential bottlenecks, cross team dependencies.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to multiple large-scale, distributed infrastructure, working closely with Authentication, Policy, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.
  • Design an Implement complex, scalable infrastructure components, systems, and features and rigorous test coverage.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues in building cloud-scale services: scaling and reliability, risk isolation and resilience, and security.
