Minimum qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Product Engineer (quality and supplier development, smart electronic equipment manufacturing) position; Or of relevant experience in equivalent positions.
  • Experience enabling the transition of new products into high volume production. Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes, or in product quality process development and best practices with mobile or consumer electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with cosmetic inspection methods, measurement fixture design and measurement correlation.
  • Ability to actively participate in complex technical discussions in English.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience implementing quality escalation processes and on-going product improvements with contract manufacture partners.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional problem-solving teams by using practical approaches (e.g., quality metrics, design of experiments, statistical process control/Six Sigma).
  • Experience in the development of module processes and its integration in back-end processes of Display Industries or related industry.

Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Reliability and Product Operations to deliver products to market.
  • Use statistical process control and yield studies to validate process capability, establish reasonable specifications and drive process improvements in partnership with Tooling and Manufacturing process engineers.
  • Set up quality control plans, establish outgoing/incoming quality control processes, align on minimum standards of performance, ensure correlation between sites and track down root cause of measurement discrepancies in internal quality controls.
  • Be responsible for touch and display technology feasibility through theoretical stimulation and practical engineering methods, and for design and development of technically complex manufacturing processes to enable new product designs and functional requirements.
  • Provide technical direction to suppliers to establish and validate process capability during New Product Introduction (NPI) phase for consistently delivering quality product in mass production.
