Head of Strategic Partner Development, Glasses Program Partnerships

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, or 13 years of experience with advanced degree.
  • Experience in the consumer electronics, auto, OEMs, telecom, e-commerce/retail, apps, ads, gaming, or technology industries.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across multiple levels of management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in the XR (Virtual Reality (VR)/Augmented Reality (AR)/Mixed Reality (MR) space or experience in deep product, technical and business subject matter.
  • Experience operating with flexibility in a fast-paced, always-on, constantly evolving and collaborative environment and work effectively cross-functionally with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to develop in ambiguous, uncertain dynamics and creative, resourceful, detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and presentation skills on technical, contractual and financial issues.

About the job

As a Strategic Partner Development Manager, you'll open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions and evaluate/develop business opportunities. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide thought leadership and serve as a mentor to managers and associates. You are comfortable escalating and presenting business development strategies and key issues to senior management. You'll work closely with Google Product, Engineering, Legal and Sales teams on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships that support our online advertising business.

The XR Platform Business Development (BD) team drives strategic partnerships across the entire XR value chain, driving product partnership strategy, monetization models, and GTM channel partnerships. We bridge internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g., OEMs, Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs), channel partners, component suppliers) to structure and execute complex product development and commercial deals to launch and Android XR form factors, including headsets, XR Glasses, and AI Glasses.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $224,000-$312,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead and build out a newly created Glasses Programs partnerships team pod responsible for driving ODM and non-eyewear channel partnerships (e.g., retail, fashion) to bring high quality XR/AI Glasses to market.
  • Establish deep relationships with external partner leadership and internal cross-functional and cross-product area stakeholders to identify, align, and execute on XR platform opportunities.
  • Act as a thought leader on the ecosystem, strategic trends and engaged threats, and establish reputation as an expert who can provide guidance to Product, Engineering, and cross-product area teams on prioritization and engagement strategies.
  • Drive the definition, structuring, internally alignment/approval, negotiation, and execution of complex first-of-their-kind product, technology, business, and GTM agreements with partners.
  • Collaborate with Product, StratOps, Finance, and other Cross-Platforms and Devices teams to define, validate, and scale new business and revenue models (e.g., licensing).
