Software Engineering Manager, Chrome Content Consumption

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in engineering and technical leadership with people management.
  • Experience with distributed systems and architecture, and systems integration.
  • Experience in software development and developing web-based applications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The content consumption feature team is in charge of creating delightful content consumption experiences in Chrome. As part of the team you will help build our mission of allowing everyone to access all types of web content regardless of their language or preferred way to consume it.

Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web. We’re focused on making a better browser (on both desktop and mobile) to help users take advantage of all the web has to offer in a safe and secure way.Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. We also built Chrome as an open source project so the entire web ecosystem could benefit from the latest innovations in speed, simplicity and security.

Responsibilities

  • Create our long-term strategy for prioritizing feature work and engineering excellence.
  • Work with cross-functional team members and provide a senior technical point of view on the feasibility of different projects.
  • Mentor and help grow more junior engineers.
  • Figure out ways to incorporate AI into new features as well as into the development flow of our engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership in the form of code-reviews and design-reviews.
