Image Sensor Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, imaging related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with imaging sensors, image processing, camera tuning.
  • 2 years of experience working in complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) imaging/electro optical systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience translating system requirements to sensor specifications and down-selecting image sensors for products (electrical, optical, sensor etc.).
  • Experience scripting in MATLAB/Python.
  • Knowledge of FPGA, SPAD, ISP, major SOC platforms, computer vision, or machine learning.
  • Basic knowledge of image sensor design: pixels, analog readout and serial interfaces.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $132000 - $189000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Derive ERS (Engineering Required Specification) and image sensor handbook for the Mobile, Home and AR/VR applications.
  • Test, validate and evaluate various image sensors at the board, camera module and device level and FA, EFFA at the different production stages to deliver best-quality image sensors.
  • Derive the new sensor key matrix, test methodology and algorithm to validate and evaluate image sensors for various applications to assess how the image sensors perform in the real use cases.
  • Set-up new test environments and equipment to perform robust, reliable and consistent test results regardless of time, place and people.
  • Work with the cross functional teams to ensure the smooth and flawless integration of image sensors into the final products.
