Strategic Partnerships Development Manager, Global Sports and Live

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in the sports or media industry as an executive at a sports property, sports/media agency, sports/media distributor or media company.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Experience with data-based agreement structuring/negotiation and content partner management.
  • Experience managing and developing a team.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or JD degree.
  • Experience evaluating and licensing content across the full sports and live event spectrum, including live rights, highlights and library content across linear television, broadcast stations, direct-to-consumer offerings, and ad-supported/subscription platforms.
  • Ability to grasp complex technical and product concepts.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative, and ambiguous start-up like environments where thoughtfulness, an entrepreneurial mindset, persistent execution, and relationships drive success.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Google's line of products and services to our clients never stops growing. The Partnerships Development team is responsible for seeking and exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Equipped with your business acumen and extensive product knowledge, you are right on the front line of interacting with our partners, and helping them find ways to grow using Google's newest product offerings. Your knowledge of relevant verticals and relationships with key industry players will help shape our great applications and content for products such as YouTube, Google TV and Commerce.

As a Manager, Global Sports and Live, you will lead a team that works with partners across sports properties and live events. We work to support and grow these partnerships across YouTube Main, YouTube Premium and YouTube TV. This will include ownership of select sports partner accounts to drive optimal performance across YouTube’s product spectrum, leading agreement evaluations and negotiations, and supporting events and activations for partners to deliver on global priorities. US: $224000 - $312000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support sports content partners (partner activation events, best practices for programming, quarterly business reviews, etc.).
  • Evaluate, scout, and structure partnerships with sports properties and live media events across YouTube products, including advertising-supported video on demand (AVOD), subscription video on demand (SVOD), transactional video on demand (TVOD), Pay-Per-View (PPV), FAST and Pay TV services.
  • Manage and develop a high performing team, while supporting a culture that encourages creative thinking and risk taking.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of constituents, particularly in product, finance, marketing, and legal, as well as with external partners. 
  • Understand industry trends and market insights to adjust to changing circumstances and create and nurture industry relationships, while representing YouTube.
