Web Solutions Engineer, YouTube Business Technology and Insights

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, math or related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience in software development.
  • 6 years of experience in full-stack software development and system design.
  • Experience with frontend languages (e.g. JavaScript or TypeScript).
  • Experience with backend languages (e.g. Java, Python, or C++).
  • Experience working with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience with site reliability engineering, information security, or developer operations practices.
  • Experience with UX practices and processes, including user-centered design and research.
  • Experience implementing UX from industry-standard design solutions (e.g., Figma).
  • Experience working with hosted backends to power prototypes.
  • Knowledge of technical constraints designing for web technologies.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and organizational skills.

In this role, you will be focused on driving design innovation through varied technical knowledge. You will co-design alongside UX and product teams, challenge assumptions about the possible, and propose creative solutions to solve practical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize front-end to meet user needs by working with engineers to refine code and tools, and ensuring they are correct and appropriate for user needs.
  • Lead AI innovation from both a usage and feature integration perspective. Support the skill growth of UX and engineering teams by sharing knowledge and coaching others through emerging technologies.
  • Partner with UX design, research, GTM, and other horizontals to develop unique, original, and impactful products. Collaborate with UX, product, and business stakeholders, communicating with audiences through written and verbal presentations.
  • Create presentations, journeys, user flows, wireframes, technical design docs and other artifacts to share as a part of an open design process with stakeholder group.
