Senior Manager, Trust and Safety Ads, Content Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 13 years of experience in business strategy, technology research, anti-abuse, policy, data analytics, cyber-security, program management or related fields.
  • 2 years of experience in people management, leading teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of people management experience, including team leadership and managing other managers.
  • Experience developing actor-level behavioral strategy and privacy-focused product protections for telephony or internet-scale products.
  • Experience leading large market rollouts, working with developer and user communities, working with channel partners etc.
  • Understanding of end-to-end encrypted communication products, or well as carrier products, and the unique safety issues they present.
  • Ability to translate data analyses and emerging abuse trends into actionable business strategies for non-technical stakeholders and leadership.

Trust and Safety team members defend Google's integrity by fighting spam, fraud and abuse. We develop, communicate, and enforce product policies. We reduce risk and protect the experience of users and business partners in more than 40 languages across Google's expanding base of products. We work cross-functionally with Engineering, Legal, Public Policy and Sales to set policies and combat fraud and abuse in a scalable way, aiming to find industry-wide solutions. We are problem solvers first, motivated to find innovative solutions using technical know-how, user insights and proactive communication, pursuing the highest quality and safety standards for users across Google products.

Our team protects Google's users, ensuring online safety in both core and emerging areas. We are at the center of the company-wide charge to raise the bar on content, including coherent policies and scaled and effective enforcement. We have recently expanded beyond traditional product protections focusing on additional types of abuse: brand safety, controversial content, violent extremism, and political interference. We've advanced user protections; and demonstrated expertise across Google’s growing array of products and services.

In this role you will lead a team, be a thought leader, an excellent operator and will collaborate cross-functionally. You will bring passion for abuse fighting, focus on putting the user first and lead a high performing team to deliver excellent business results. You will partner with key stakeholders to drive operational performance and lower abuse rates. You will enable effectiveness and efficiency by providing thought leadership, execution excellence and people management guidance to deliver cross-functional initiatives at scale.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $219000 - $306000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Architect end-to-end Trust and Safety strategies for ads policy enforcement across a multitude of business areas, including high-risk safety areas, personalized ads, business growth enablement, and user experiences.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives by partnering with executive stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Legal, PR, and Public Policy to influence long-term technical roadmaps, roll out policy updates, and ensure "safer-by-design" product features. 
  • Act as the final point of escalation for high-stakes safety crises sometimes outside normal business hours while actively upleveling the analyst team through advanced coaching and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Drive programmatic initiatives across the broader organization, successfully managing programs and exercising influence without direct authority, in addition to leading your own direct team. 
  • Guide the transformation plan, development and deployment of advanced AI/ML to automate enforcement, scale solutions, and improve operational effectiveness.
