Internal and External Communications Manager, AI Transformation

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 year of experience in public relations, media relations, or internal and executive communications with technology products or services.
  • Experience working directly with product, engineering, or research leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing external communications including pitching reporters, securing coverage, managing crisis, etc.
  • Experience working with executive leaders to align on messaging and managing internal and executive communications.
  • Familiarity with the AI tooling landscape, both inside and outside of Google.
  • Ability to thrive in changing, ambiguous environments, especially during high-stakes product launch cycles.
  • Excellent AI fluency and the ability to quickly understand highly technical topics.
  • Excellent writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

About the job

As the Internal and External Communications Manager for AI Transformation, you will sit at the center of Google's efforts to transform how work gets done with AI. You will help Googlers understand our AI goals and how their daily work contributes to Google as "customer zero" for AI. You will start by building internal momentum and eventually externalize our best practices and learnings.

You will be an organized writer who can turn technical topics into clear, compelling messages. This role is scoped as a strategic and execution-focused partner, working directly with the VP of AI Transformation to help teams rethink how they work, moving beyond simple tasks to entirely new workflows.It's our job to help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. To succeed here, you'll combine creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers and commentators, or producing internal communications and events for our employees. Things happen quickly at Google and to get stuff done here you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally and isn't hesitant to take risks or try new things.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $171000 - $248000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Build the communications strategy for our company-wide AI Transformation. Work with our Vice President (VP) of AI transformation to shape the core narrative, define key messages and milestones and execute a plan to share our story and milestones.
  • Write clear, high-quality content for both internal and external audiences. Turn technical wins into everyday language for speeches, blog posts, internal forums, FAQs and case studies. 
  • Partner with teams across Google to ensure we amplify and celebrate our AI transformation milestones. 
  • Develop and maintain AI transformation roadshow content and materials. Ensure AI transformation efforts are amplified in major forums across the company to promote collaboration.
  • Run proactive, integrated media campaigns that highlight our AI transformation progress and establish our expertise. Help train and build a strong bench of executive spokespeople to tell our story.
