Head of Payment Operations, YouTube

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in a technical project management or a customer-facing role.
  • 8 years of experience in a strategy and operations, or consulting role.
  • 3 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in digital media or streaming, with deep understanding of complex content licensing, royalty payouts, or revenue share structures.
  • Strong background in finance, analytics, and modeling, with ability to interpret complex commercial terms to support business development and partners.
  • Attention-to-detail and passion for operational excellence, implementing controls to preserve payment accuracy and prevent financial errors.
  • Technical aptitude in data analysis, including SQL capability, data modeling, or building automation to solve process gaps.
  • Strong change management capability, scaling crucial operations with AI.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, aligning Engineering, Product, Audit, and Business Development on complex tasks.

About the job

As the Head of Payment Operations, you will lead a specialized, verticalized team of payment operations specialists to manage the end-to-end partner payments life-cycle for YouTube’s most valuable and complex product portfolios. You will act as the critical operational bridge turning bespoke, multi-million dollar contracts into highly accurate partner payouts across Connected TV, Music, Living Room, Music + Premium (M+P) Resellers, and Shopping. In this role, you will promote "Payment Operations 2.0", driving a multi-year strategy to transition manual, reactive operations into an AI-powered, highly scalable payments hub that protects margins, prevents errors, and preserves financial integrity.

US: $174000 - $253000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Direct, support, and develop a verticalized team of payment operations specialists, advocate for their career growth and technical capabilities.
  • Oversee the accuracy and execution of YouTube's enterprise partner payment life-cycle, driving a target accuracy rate of >99.9% across Music, Connected TV, Living Room, M+P Resellers, and Shopping.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to define long-term roadmaps, migrating billions in annual recurring revenue from manual off-system processes to automated, on-system calculations.
  • Co-ordinate cross-functionally with legal, audit, systems, and business development to identify, size, and resolve complex financial discrepancies and contract implementation gaps.
  • Sponsor AI-driven initiatives to optimize contract ingestion, bulk rate updates, and proactive verification controls, and provide consultation around subscriptions revenue share logic and operationalization terms.
