Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal/external partners or customers.
  • 3 years of experience in people management.
  • Experience in either system design or reading code (e.g., Java, C++, Python).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or Applied Science, or a related field.
  • 15 years of experience in operations management (i.e. process improvement, operational reviews, optimizing workflows, etc).
  • 10 years of experience in broadcast engineering fields like signal acquisition, transcoding, distribution, or monitoring.
  • 7 years of experience in direct management of engineering teams.

About the job

As a Technical Solutions Consultant, you will be responsible for the technical relationship of our largest advertising clients and product partners. You will lead cross-functional teams in Engineering, Sales and Product Management to leverage emerging technologies for our external clients/partners. From concept design and testing to data analysis and support, you will oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's online advertising platforms and product partnerships.

You will be able to balance business and partner needs with technical constraints, develop innovative, cutting edge solutions and act as a partner and consultant to those you are working with. You will also be able to build tools and automate products, oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's partnerships, as well as develop product strategy and prioritize projects and resources.

The Live Acquisition Engineering (LAE) team oversees the ingestion of live broadcast video to support YouTube’s Over-the-Top (OTT) products like YouTube TV and Primetime Channels. This video includes popular live stations like NBC, CBS, ESPN, TNT, etc, and the world's premium live sports like NFL, IPL, EPL, and thousands more. The LAE team oversees both the physical and logical connectivity required to acquire, transport, normalize, and hand off premium live video signals (such as live sports, news, and linear TV) at a global scale.

US: $233000 - $324000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute YouTube's live video physical and logical acquisition strategy leveraging public internet, fiber providers, and satellite technologies.
  • Direct a team of 8 broadcast engineers while managing hardware deployment, vendor partnerships, a multi-million dollar budget, and Technical Operations Center (TOC) escalation support.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (Software Engineering (SWE), Product) and external partners/broadcasters to modernize stream automation, latency, and observability.
  • Act as a domain expert to guide repeatable solutions, optimize technical delivery, reduce operational costs, and align with broader broadcast industry standards.
