About the job

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

In this role, you will be navigating relationships across Product, Business, gTech, and various Ads infrastructure teams. You will work with the China and Asia-Pacific (APAC) Global Business Organization (GBO) teams to understand major issues for the customers in the region to enable improvements and win statement of work (SOW). You will enable product and technical evolutions based on the learning, and apply the solution to the general advertiser base.

Users come first at Google. Nowhere is this more important than on our Advertising and Commerce team: we believe that ads and commercial information can be highly useful to our users if that information is relevant to what our users wish to find or do. Advertisers worldwide use Google Ads to promote their products; publishers use AdSense to serve relevant ads on their website; and business around the world use our products (like Google Shopping, and Google Wallet) to support their online businesses and bring users into their offline stores. We are constantly innovating to deliver the most effective advertising and commerce opportunities of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and execution of large-scale experiments to optimize Ads serving, bidding models, and retrieval systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues in Ads products using data-driven approaches, write high-quality code, and contribute to engineering excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to help resolve customer escalations and technical issues.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
