About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Team Mission is to deliver high-quality, predictable outcomes for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) by orchestrating cross-functional execution, managing risk proactively, and bridging technical delivery with customer sovereign requirements.

Our team brings Google’s frontier AI (Gemini) and cloud infrastructure into the world’s most demanding defense, government, and regulated enterprise environments. Across GDC Air-Gapped and GDC Connected, Security and Compliance aren’t post-launch checkboxes, they are the foundational product unlocking sovereign accreditations and mission-critical deployments. You will lead horizontal security and compliance initiatives across software and hardware, shaping cryptographic readiness (including PQC), continuous accreditation, vulnerability governance, and shift-left security across our release lifecycle.

Our Technical Program Managers (TPMs) are strategic drivers, partnering directly with engineering, security, and product leaders in a high-trust, AI-augmented culture where bad news early is actionable data.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google’s cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive cross-functional security and compliance roadmaps across GDC to unlock sovereign, defense, and regulated enterprise accreditations (IL5/IL6, FedRAMP, FIPS).
  • Operationalize shift-left security and compliance gates across the software and hardware release lifecycle, delivering master execution plans, dependency maps, risk registers, and executive readiness reviews.
  • Partner with Engineering and Security architects across the full GDC tech stack: bare-metal servers, GPU/AI serving infrastructure, Kubernetes/GKE, Linux OS, networking, storage, KMS/HSMs, IAM, and zero-trust boundary controls.
  • Drive cryptographic modernization, continuous vulnerability management (CVE/SBOM), and secure software/firmware supply chain workflows tailored for disconnected and hybrid topologies.
  • Align engineering, Security, Compliance, Product, and Operations (SovOps) stakeholders to resolve complex technical trade-offs and ensure predictable, audit-ready customer releases.
