Minimum qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in a clinical field (e.g. MD, PsyD, PhD, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of clinical experience (including training) after the completion of a doctoral degree, or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in suicide prevention either through hotlines or specific clinical work.
- 1 year of experience with evaluation of AI products or digital health product development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with generative AI, including safety approaches.
- Experience working in complex, ambiguous environments with cross-functional product development teams.
- Recognition as an emerging leader in youth mental/behavioral health.
- Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications or similar relevant writings on suicide and youth.
- Outstanding communication and people management skills.

The centralized Health team provides guidance and support to Google’s product areas for the development of health-related products and services. Experts within the Health team are focused on a range of topics including clinical experience, industry solutioning, regulatory/quality/safety, and employee health and safety. We support products across Google that touch the health and well-being of people on a global scale.
As a clinical specialist, you’ll be an effective and influential contributor to our work, developing intelligent and intuitive tools that help improve health journeys for users. You’ll utilize not only your clinical expertise but also your excellent listening, communication, and leadership skills to appropriately shape the content, design, and execution of products.
You are highly experienced in working cross-functionally, with experience in working with non-clinical teams such as software design, engineering, product management, regulatory affairs and research teams. You will have a demonstrable background working as a healthcare professional in your field with recognized expertise in suicide and other safety-related areas. Ideally, in addition to a clinical background you will have experience evaluating AI products in real-world use cases.
Responsibilities
- Use your youth (i.e., kids and teens) mental health experience and expertise to plan and execute projects supporting youth wellbeing and mental health efforts across products.
- Apply methodologies for evaluating AI model performance in mental health safety and quality applications, working closely with product management and testing and safety teams.
- Identify relevant evidence-based practices for youth, related to the mental health and psychological wellbeing of them and their families, and use these to influence product development or refinement.
- Work across company verticals and product areas to drive relevant youth work forward.
- Work with sensitive content or situations and may be exposed to graphic or upsetting topics or content.
