Camera Image Quality and Tuning Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in image processing, image quality evaluation, camera tuning or other camera technical environments, or an advanced degree.
  • Experience in programming language C, C++, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field.
  • Experience in developing integration of new autofocus(AF) hardware components in consumer products, autofocus algorithm, tuning, and optimization.
  • Experience in executive characteristics, optics, and image signal processing of the mobile imaging system, and their influence on final image and video quality.
  • Experience in performance validation for Laser Detection Autofocus (LDAF) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) modules.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Passion for photography technology.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the architectural autofocus relative design and algorithm for digital photography and tune the Autofocus algorithm, support Pixel phone and contribute to raise the bar of quality and innovation with Pixel cameras.
  • Understand and work with other stakeholders to improve Autofocus algorithms.
  • Communicate results and implications to a cross-functional team, and work cross-functionally to optimize the performance under hardware constraints(VCM, lens, sensor, OIS, TOF) constraints.
  • Design and produce subjective and objective laboratory tests and fielded test methods to analyze problems, experiment with image quality, behavior and performance.
  • Work with the System on a Chip(SOC) Architecture and relative algorithm team to understand and improve the architecture and use cases.
