Finance Controls Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Operations, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in management consulting, or an operations-related function; or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree in business, accounting, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • CIA/CPA/CISA or related experience.
  • Experience with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board) auditing standards and control frameworks used in SOX (e.g., COSO).
  • Experience with developing test strategies and approaches to testing Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, IT General Controls; Information Used in Control activities; Information Produced by the Entity.
  • Experience in the following areas: Cloud computing and related services; Enterprise technology companies and ordering workflows.
  • Experience in leading projects with process improvement experience in process, system or automation.
  • Experience with deficiency assessments, remediation process and remediation testing.

About the job

This job is on our Cloud Finance Compliance and Controls team. Our role is to protect, guide and grow Google’s investment in Cloud. We design and maintain policies to provide assurance that Cloud transactions are signed and approved by authorized employees. We implement and test internal controls over financial reporting that provide assurance that our reporting data is complete, accurate, timely and reliable. We work both on paper, documenting procedures and requirements, and in real life, testing that work is performed effectively.

We are looking for a controls manager to join our Internal Assurance group. In this role, you will work with a dedicated team of Googlers and vendor partners to maintain and strengthen Cloud's internal controls over financial reporting.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $128000 - $188000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Support Cloud's participation in Alphabet's annual SOX program, including performing the annual financial reporting risk assessment for the Cloud business, and maintaining and refreshing Cloud's process narratives, process flows and risk and control matrices.
  • Design new and enhanced key and non-key internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) for the Cloud commercial business from lead generation to business reporting. Internally test the effectiveness of newly implemented controls before submitting them for separate review.
  • Ensure key SOX control activities performed by Cloud functions are effective, preparing control owners for separate testing and providing timely support to the external auditor and corporate teams for walk through and information requests.
  • Support the root cause analysis of accounting errors and prior period adjustments, performing control deficiency assessments and partnering with control owners on the timely completion of remediation plans.
