Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • Experience with device, OS, or embedded system security.
  • Experience working in embedded or operating systems software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex organization.
  • 2 years of experience managing distributed teams or mentoring technical leads.
  • Experience in technical leadership or engineering management overseeing software, systems, or security teams.
  • Experience building or managing backend security services, PKI/signing infrastructure, or CI/CD automation.
  • Experience with low-level platform firmware (TF-A), memory-safe languages (Rust), secure bootloaders, or hardware security modules (HSMs).

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $301000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and grow emerging technical managers overseeing security infrastructure, new security initiatives, and low-level firmware.
  • Oversee ARM Trusted Firmware (TF-A) execution environments and drive the architectural evolution of porting secure low-level platform code to memory-safe Rust (RF-A).
  • Guide the engineering roadmap for secure diagnostic tools, advanced cryptographic signing pipelines, and automated lab testing.
  • Collaborate directly with custom silicon design, platform security, and manufacturing teams to ensure device integrity.
  • Design and analyze various security systems on Pixel devices.
