Regional Building Technologies and OT Operations Specialist

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Systems, Controls Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience operating, managing, and securing building automation systems (BAS/BMS) or operational technology (OT) across multi-facility real estate portfolios.
  • Experience implementing OT cybersecurity controls (network segmentation, firmware/patch management, secure remote access) and incident response for building infrastructure.
  • Experience collaborating with third-party Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) partners and controls contractors.
  • Experience with building control protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, MQTT), and supervisory platforms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry Certifications in controls platforms, or OT cybersecurity (e.g., GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CISSP).
  • Experience with Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), energy optimization (ASHRAE Guideline 36), and smart building analytics.
  • Practical working knowledge of commercial MEP equipment (HVAC, central plants, EPMS) and standard facility operating procedures (MOPs/SOPs/EOPs).
  • Excellent cross-functional, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of acting as the technical escalation point for critical facility outages and vendor SLA enforcement.

From smart structures and central utility plants to sustainable campus setups, our Tech Infrastructure group ensures these spaces function with reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Workspaces rely on sophisticated operational technology (OT) to keep daily campus activity running smoothly. You will serve as the subject-matter expert for IoT, mechanical controls, and network protection throughout the territory.

In this role, you will bridge physical plant engineering with digital architecture. You will collaborate daily with outsourced service providers and specialist vendors to oversee the baseline health, availability, and cyber posture of these workplace technologies. You will be equally comfortable reviewing sequence of operations (SOO) with technicians, auditing architectures against threat baselines, and validating Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for live maintenance.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $157000 - $227000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead regional operational architecture and lifecycle performance for Building Management Systems (BMS), lighting, and connected building equipment.
  • Partner with onsite Facilities Managers and Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) operating engineers to maintain control system reliability and uptime across regional facilities.
  • Own regional OT cyber hygiene, vulnerability and patch management, and mitigations within defined SLOs, serving as the technical risk authority for building and connected systems.
  • Drive rapid technical and corrective actions for building automation failures, controls communication outages, and OT security incidents within defined SLOs.
  • Advance predictive maintenance, Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), and Security-by-Design standards for operations, new equipment procurement and capital projects.
