Software Engineer, Search Ads in AI Experiences

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++ and Python.
  • 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative AI, or specialization in another ML field.
  • 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging).
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with machine learning, data science, statistics, natural language processing, computer vision, etc.

The Ads Targeting team is responsible for one of the highest-priority initiatives at Google: reinventing Search Ads for the AI era (AI Overview, AI Mode). Our mission is to ensure that as Search experience evolves with AI, we unlock new ways for users to discover and engage with businesses through seamless, next-generation commercial experiences. We are a team of risk-takers and builders, responsible for experimenting with rapid velocity to define the next decade of Google’s revenue engine.

Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own projects end-to-end from initial idea to design, analysis, and implementation.
  • Perform model training, evaluation, and deployment to solve business-critical problems. This includes exploration of new model architectures, augmenting existing training data, finding better evaluation methods and feedback signals, and identifying headroom opportunities.
  • Understand production systems, visualize, monitor, and optimize performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and research in the field, working with our collaborators in Google Research and Deep Mind.
