Manufacturing Test Engineer, Global Manufacturing Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in hardware engineering, test engineering, or a related manufacturing test environment.
  • Experience contributing to the development and integration of manufacturing test hardware, including custom electronics, cabling, test fixtures, or instrumentation.
  • Experience in continuous improvement in test systems and processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience participating in the test or board-level validation of server and networking products, with exposure to system-level functional tests in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with test station bring-up and basic validation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Windows OS, along with practical experience writing basic Python and Shell scripts.
  • Ability to draft and execute detailed test plans based on product specifications, ensuring testing procedures are followed accurately.
  • Ability to assist the engineering team in troubleshooting manufacturing issues and conducting root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adopt new tools, such as automation or data analysis.

About the job

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will develop, enhance and sustain manufacturing test processes, tools and procedures for manufacturing operation of products to be deployed at Google Data Center. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’ll be right there alongside ensuring manufacturing test processes are repeatable and controlled.

In addition, you will collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, Design Engineers and Quality Engineers to drive continuous improvements to products and manufacturing processes. Your work will ensure the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and deploying test solutions for new products with global manufacturing partners, collaborating with NPI and executive engineering teams to understand test requirements and support DFT (Design for Test) reviews.
  • Support daily test operations for sustaining products by helping to deploy, validate, and maintain software and hardware updates on manufacturing test lines.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at optimizing test processes, improving test coverage, and reducing cycle times, while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in the investigation of manufacturing yield issues and field escapes, helping to analyze data and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Draft and maintain clear documentation for test processes, setup procedures, and troubleshooting guides to help standardize practices across internal teams and external partners.
