Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in enterprise pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, or data architecture.
- Experience in SAP process functional (principal module SD, FI, MM) and technical experience in SAP products (SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP BW, or SAP BDC).
- Experience in SQL and designing schemas for cloud data warehouses.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a technical field.
- Experience with BigQuery, Dataform, Cloud Composer (Airflow), and Dataflow pipelines.
- Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) processing and zero-copy data integration patterns.
- Familiarity with Vertex AI, Gemini, and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or grounding techniques for AI agents.
- Familiarity with partner tools such as SNP Glue, Informatica, or Fivetran for SAP data extraction.
About the job
The Practice Customer Engineer specializing in Cortex for SAP is a critical technical leadership role focused on helping enterprise customers unlock the full potential of their SAP data. In this role, you will guide organizations through the journey of moving beyond fragmented data silos and manual Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes. By leveraging the Google Cloud Cortex Framework, you will enable customers to land their SAP Enterprise Central Component (ECC), S/4HANA or Business Data Cloud (BDC) data into BigQuery as predefined, analytics-ready data products.Responsibilities
- Lead architectural discussions, execute technical proof-of-concepts, and secure technical wins for complex SAP data modernization initiatives.
- Deploy the Cortex Data Foundation on BigQuery, designing storage schemas, project structures, and unified semantic layers that integrate SAP and non-SAP data.
- Develop scalable SQL-based transformation pipelines and real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) replication workflows using Dataform, dbt, Cloud Composer, and various ETL tools.
- Enhance datasets with external Google signals and ground Vertex AI and Gemini business agents in governed data to ensure trusted, context-rich responses.
- Customize prebuilt Looker dashboards and Looker Studio explores to enable rapid executive decision-making across finance, sales, and supply chain domains.
