Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Speech Processing, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in deep learning research and development, including generative AI, audio and video synthesis, diffusion models, and autoregressive generative models.
- One or more scientific publications in venues like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or equivalent industry contributions.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience building and deploying spoken dialog systems.
- Experience with reinforcement learning (RL) and post-training with LLMs, especially spoken LLMs.
- Excellent engineering skills in Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g., JAX, PyTorch), with a track record of building high-quality research prototypes and systems.
- Motivated to pick up technologies to adapt and move quickly.

In this role, you will join a fast-paced audio and language team that is fundamental to Google DeepMind’s work on Gemini’s audio capabilities, on music generation, on speech synthesis, on multimodal tokenization, and on diffusion theory. You will dive into both theory and code: to drive independent research initiatives, work with teams on AI, and develop solutions to fundamental questions in machine learning and AI.
