About the job

Google Home is transforming ambient intelligence and smart living for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Delivering delightful, dependable smart home experiences requires an extraordinary foundation: rapid software iteration cycles, rock-solid test fidelity, and immediate, actionable quality signals from silicon to cloud.

As a Software Engineering Manager for Home Foundations, you will lead a high-impact team dedicated to revolutionizing developer velocity and software health. You will bring an AI-native mindset to re-imagine the developer loop—harnessing generative AI, autonomous agentic workflows, and predictive analytics to eliminate engineering friction. In this role, you are both a deeply technical architect and an inspirational people leader. You will challenge legacy paradigms, advocate boldly for velocity investments, and empower your team to build the next generation of intelligent tools, hermetic testing platforms, and full-stack observability systems.
The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

  • Design and scale intelligent quality platforms and predictive verification pipelines to transform quality signals and eliminate engineering friction across hybrid device-cloud stacks.
  • Provide deep technical guidance and conduct architectural reviews to ensure system resilience, security, and scalability.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of psychological safety, bold experimentation, and continuous growth.
  • Establish operational excellence by defining clear team OKRs/SLOs and balancing strategic long-term bets with high-urgency deliverables.
  • Partner cross-functionally with architects, product managers, and leadership to lead developer productivity across Google Home and Devices and Services.
