Financial Analyst, Core Financial Planning and Analysis

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), consulting, or a related function.
  • Experience executing full-cycle FP&A functions including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and modeling within a multinational company setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SQL or comparable data analytics tools for data extraction, manipulation, and presentation via dashboards
  • Demonstrated success in building cross-functional partnerships, thriving in dynamic environments, and driving operational excellence.
  • Capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels within a matrixed organization.
  • Aptitude for leveraging investigative skills to develop compelling business cases.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) serves as a business steward and trusted advisor. In this role, you will self-initiate, be detail-oriented, passionate about problem-solving, and creative in addressing challenges.

You will join Google's Core Finance team. Core builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products, fulfilling a mission to make Google work better for everyone at scale. Core architects the AI-native systems, platforms, and experiences powering company products globally.

Core Finance acts as trusted advisors to leadership, ensuring strategic resource allocation and driving scenario planning to maximize value and optimize operations. As the foundational finance engine, FP&A operates as core business partners managing operating expenses (OpEx). We maintain operational excellence while steering financial strategy through major transitions—building budgets, refining forecasts, evaluating business cases with strong return on investment (ROI), and tracking key performance indicators.

In this role, you will support two key engineering areas: AI Systems: driving the technological transformation toward an AI-native company and accelerating Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) delivery. AI Foundations: engineering tomorrow's technical foundation to ensure systems are faster, safer, reliable, and efficient.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $116000 - $166000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Core Finance, business units, and Accounting to ensure financial data integrity, deliver strategic support, and identify business risks and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated models for forecasting, budgeting, variance tracking, workforce planning, scenario modeling, and cost allocations to guide strategic decisions.
  • Own end-to-end profit and loss (P&L) and spend management for Core AI Systems and AI Foundations across month-end close (MEC), forecasting, annual operating plan (AOP), and long-range plan (LRP) planning cycles.
  • Deliver regular and ad-hoc reports with actionable executive insights, while conducting in-depth value creation and business generation analyses.
  • Streamline core financial workflows and improve operational efficiency by leveraging emerging technologies and AI to automate manual tasks.
