Senior UX Content Designer, Google Shopping

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of conversation design experience in product design or UX design.
  • 5 years of experience in user-focused product writing and content design.
  • Experience in shaping content and tuning models for responses while collaborating with multi-disciplinary product teams.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience including experience working within GenAI or software product spaces.
  • Familiarity with training practices for language models, including exposure to developing high-quality model training examples.

As a UX writer, you are an advocate for Google design, shaping product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete tasks. You help set the vision for content and drive cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touch points. As a stellar writer, your portfolio of work demonstrates content that simplifies and beautifies the overall user experience. You work with people in a variety of UX design-related jobs including researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing and customer operations. Collaborating with each, you strive to establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You regularly use empathy, logic and data to inform content choices and recommendations that include the right words and sometimes complementary data and images.

As a Content Designer on the Google Shopping team, you’ll drive model behavior design efforts to shape the future of our GenAI experiences. You will develop scalable frameworks, rubrics, and evaluation methods that ensure high-quality, trustworthy shopping responses. Your primary focus will be creating user-centric conversational response strategies that prioritize helpfulness, using natural language to build meaningful interactions within our AI-powered search environment.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $159000 - $230000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for improvements to AI responses and drive solutions, including system instruction updates and evaluations.
  • Define content and principles that guide and shape AI response strategies and experiences.
  • Help scale framework resources to appropriate target audiences, manage your work, set direction, and communicate priorities in-line with organizational goals.
  • Influence UX and cross-functional partnerships to align stakeholder expectations, drive understanding and alignment, and advocate for user-focused content experiences.
  • Advocate for Product Excellence for all users, such as localization and accessibility.
