Product Manager, Google Docs

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 5 years of experience in product management, bringing innovative software products to market.
  • 3 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc).
  • Experience developing or launching products or technologies within Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with document creation tools, natural language processing, or collaborative productivity suites.
  • Experience in both consumer-facing and enterprise application development.
  • Ability to partner with research teams to translate emerging technology into user-centric features.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience representing product strategy to senior leadership and external customers.
  • Excellent innovative thinking and collaboration skills, and a passion for solving the most challenging product problems.

Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

The Workspace team is seeking an experienced Product Manager (L6) to join the Editors organization, specifically focusing on Google Docs. Docs is a mature product with an extensive global user base, and we are looking for an experienced Product Manager (PM) to help drive its evolution through the integration of generative AI.

As a core piece of Google Workspace’s AI-first strategy, we are leading a fundamental shift from a traditional word processor to an active, agentic writing partner.

As a PM for Docs, you will own critical workstreams, owning multiple feature areas. You will drive product strategy in a highly ambiguous space, navigating the rapid evolution of generative models to deliver enterprise-grade offerings. You will have a blend of consumer-facing product experience and deep technical expertise in GenAI.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $192000 - $279000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategy and roadmap for core Docs features.
  • Partner closely with DeepMind to analyze, test, and prototype new base capabilities for production-ready language and productivity models.
  • Manage complex workstreams from model collaboration through productization, ensuring high-quality output and Vice President (VP)-level alignment.
  • Identify and launch new entry points across Workspace (e.g., Drive, Slides, and Chrome) to scale top-of-funnel growth and Monthly Active Users (MAU).
  • Partner with Engineering, UX, and Marketing to deliver "collaborative productivity at scale" for enterprise customers.
