Senior UX Design Manager, Messages

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • 3 years of experience designing for consumer products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, engineers, content strategists and product managers.
  • Experience designing for native mobile applications including across a variety of device types.
  • Experience owning or strongly contributing to a design system.
  • Experience designing end-to-end features and shepherding that work through the full lifecycle of design from kickoff through implementation as both an Executive level IC and as a front line manager.

Messages User Experience (UX) is a tight-knit, multidisciplinary team with excellent cross-functional support and a broader UX community in Android's ABC organization.

We are seeking a Senior UX Manager to shape the core consumer experience and enterprise messaging initiatives powered by Rich Communication Services (RCS) for Business. In this role, you will partner closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership to deliver intuitive solutions for users and global partners as we expand the RCS ecosystem, advocating craft excellence and the elevated design standards that define Android’s premium offerings.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $236000 - $329000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for design strategies.
  • Own improvements in design based on UX testing and stakeholder input, providing guidance and expertise to effectively engage stakeholders on product design to achieve product goals.
  • Manage a distributed team of ~8 designers split across the US and EU.
  • Guide the development and delivery of overall business strategy, leaning in with UX skills and user empathy for strong, jointly owned outcomes.
  • Continue to lead this team through AI transformation, focusing on quality, depth, and ongoing curiosity.
