About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

In this role, you'll lead and scale a high-performing team of TPMs responsible for the physical backbone of a novel computing platform. Your team will own the end-to-end hardware/system New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle for space-ready Google TPU enclosures and related systems.

You'll partner with engineering managers and cross-functional leads across Electrical Engineering, Thermal/Mechanical Design, and Software. You'll be responsible for bringing operational excellence, transparent milestone delivery, and strategic leadership to complex infrastructure initiatives. You'll define program structure in a novel environment, guiding a team through rapid prototyping, and driving the rigorous testing required to make hardware operate in environments it wasn't originally designed for. You'll be expected to establish portfolio governance standards and mentor executive/staff-level TPMs as the project progresses.

This role may involve working with technical information that is export-controlled. Non-US persons would require an export license to do so (US citizens, lawful permanent residents, and certain protected individuals are considered US persons under applicable law).

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $240000 - $333000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Partner with cross-functional engineering leads to define multi-year roadmaps, align OKRs, oversee comprehensive design documentation, and participate in technical design reviews.
  • Drive program governance by aligning budgets (CapEx/OpEx and NRE) with finance, and coordinate execution across external aerospace and manufacturing vendors.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate programmatic, technical, partnership, and regulatory risks related to deploying ML workloads in constrained space environments.
