Associate Corporate Counsel, SEA

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in Singapore.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 6 years of relevant advisory and regulatory experience within the intellectual property, media, extended workforce, and technology related areas in SEAS.
  • In-house experience with a multinational corporation and law firm experience.
  • Knowledge of privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, contract, content moderation/safety, or IP law issues in a technology context.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Excellent commercial and ethical judgment, and leadership, investigative, discussion and agreement drafting skills. Well-organised, detail-oriented and resourceful.

In this role, you will be supporting a wide range of in-region commercial, advisory, regulatory, and contentious work across Google's products and services. We provide those answers by working at the crossroads of the law and new technology, helping Google build innovative and important products for users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal reviews and provide advisory and commercial support across Google’s product, marketing, and business initiatives; respond promptly to a wide range of legal requests from Marketing, Sales, Product, Finance, Tax, and other cross-functional groups across Southeast Asia (SEAS).
  • Review draft legislation and work with Google’s Global Affairs team.
  • Build relationships with regulators and authorities in SEAS; manage regulatory inquiries, and autonomously solve contentious issues relating to Google’s products and operations.
  • Advise management and cross-functional project teams in Asia-Pacific (APAC) and the United States with regard to potential legal risks in SEAS; coordinate and ensure agreement and buy-in from all stakeholders.
  • Work with external legal counsel on specific matters ranging from regulatory issues to expert advice requests.
